2014 Thomas Charles Shiraz

Tasting Notes

2014 was a year of perfect ripening conditions in the Hunter; heavy November rains were followed by sunshine without any 40 degree days. Winemakers were able to harvest when they were ready to and not when the weather dictated.

A deep purple Hunter Valley Shiraz exuding plum, pepper and cinnamon aromas. A full-bodied red wine with deep plum fruit flavour complimented with spice and pepper throughout the length of the palate. A great mouth feel supported with fine tannins; this wine was oaked in high quality American barrels. The deep rich-red colour is an indication of a nicely ageing wine.

Tasting Notes

“Medium to full red colour with a purple tinge. The bouquet reveals herbal, vegetable and compost aromas possibly indicating whole-bunch fermentation. The wine is medium to full-bodied and admirably soft. There's a big centre of fruit-sweetness and the wine seems quite developed for its years… quite a good wine”. Huon Hooke

Huon Hooke: 88 points.

Bright & cheerful with clear fruit flavours

Tasting Notes

Goodness me this is a delicious Shiraz. Made in the spirit of a true Hunter Valley Shiraz: meaning distinctly different from other Australian wine regions. This wine is medium bodied, fruity and lively, it is a drink-now wine but the longer it is in the cellar door it is really showing us how well this wine has been made and how well it is aging.

Tasting Notes

Spain’s favourite red wine and one of the world’s greatest grape varieties: smooth, fresh and fruity, simply gorgeous. Aging with the benefit of time spent on French and American oak, this wine has a velvety mouth feel with savoury and more earthy flavours. This wine will cellar for 10 plus years.

This wine tastes as good as it smells.

Tasting Notes

In the spirit of the true Bordeaux blend we used Cabernet Franc and  Cabernet Sauvignon; both were aged in French and American oak independently. We have brought to you a deliciously smooth full-bodied wine with a peppery finish. This wine just gets better with age.

Tasting Notes

Take the time to savour this wine: walk around the room or stroll outside, toast your friends, then revisit the aroma and note the change to dried cherries, figs, and maybe roses!!! This wine is aged in old oak barrels and is a ‘rustic’ flavoured (dark chocolate & smoky) wine version of a Sangiovese, the other is a fruit-forward style. Chill this wine in the fridge for extra depth.
