2013 La Belle Helene Sémillon

...Sémillon: a French word pronouncd Sem-ee-yon

Tasting Notes

This aged Semillon has morphed from the crisp, pale straw-coloured wine of youth to the smooth and delicate honey and nutty flavours of age.  While one may think it has been oaked, it has not.

If you are eating a food that you would squeeze a lemon over, pair that food with this very good Sémillon.

2017 La Belle Helene Sémillon

...Sémillon: a French word pronouncd Sem-ee-yon

Tasting Notes

A crisp and pale straw-coloured wine with light herbal notes on the nose. Fresh lemon and lime persist throughout balanced by an underlying steely acidity.  This wine is true to the style of a classic Hunter Valley Sémillon demonstrating good length and structure. It has the citrus freshness of youth, but is beginning to develop that delicious honeyed flavours of age. This wine smells delicious.

If you are eating a food that you would squeeze a lemon over, pair the food with this very classy Sémillon.

2017 Clare Terese Chardonnay

For Chardonnay lovers this wine is sublime drinking from now to 2023.

Tasting Notes

A medium silky yellow colour with a smoky peachy aroma, this reflects a lightly-oaked Chardonnay typical of the Hunter Valley. The palate is soft and rounded, smoothly-textured and ample, with a fairly straightforward flavour. Lots of dry grass and straw nuances. A yummy Chardonnay and my favourite.

2017 Pinot Gris

This grape originated in France and is the same grape variety we use to make our Pinot Grigio

Tasting Notes

The grapes were harvested in the first week of January 2017. The juice was extracted on the same day and the skins left on overnight. Pinot Gris is an early-to-market wine and is sometimes bottled within 1 month of fermentation. Our 2017 version was allowed to settle for five months until it was bottled early in June. The wine was produced to reflect the coppery/gold colour of the classic style of wines from Alsace. It shows flavours of apple and apricots. Yes it is the skins that contribute to the dryness of this wine.

Full and fruity; the Italian way

Tasting Notes

“Light copper/brass colour, with an unusual aroma of nettles and dried herbs with some background passionfruit and lemon notes. It turns quite citrusy on the palate, with a gentle sweet-and-sour interplay. A left-field style, and nice”. Huon Hooke

Huon Hooke: 88 points.
